I have another box of goodies ready to go to CHOPS. I did hear from a Mother that her baby is at CHOPS and she loves all the little garments. It is very rewarding to hear this.
Please, if you repost my patterns, please give me credit for them as I am making my own patterns. Thank you.
Have a good one......Nan.
Welcome to my new site. I have started a new project, making hats, blankets and some clothing for the Preemies in the NICU. They are in need of hats to keep their body heat in, blankets to help the parents feel more comfortable with this tiny person that is here too early, and clothing that is made in their hard to find sizes. All the patterns are designed by me. If you like them and use them frequently, enter a donation. All money will be used on the babies. Thank you for visiting.

Chops!
CHOPS - Children's Hospital of Philly. I received a beautiful letter yesterday thanking me for all the items I donated in March. Hats, blankets, demise gowns and cuddle sacs. They named me "Operation Grandma Nancy." There is actually a use for the cuddle sacs. Some ladies questioned me about their use. So I guess go ahead and make them. They are using the fleece blankets to put next to the babies skin as they wrap them up in their big blankets. So if you had any doubts about donating things call them first, and then get busy. It really is rewarding!

Mission Accomplished!
Today was the perfect day to deliver the blankets, hats and gowns to the NICU. After filling and refilling the box it was time to put it in the car. The hats for the Peds Floor was also packed and joined the box in the back seat. Upon arriving at the NICU, we went to the desk to show the nurses what was in the box. After all the ooo's and ahhhh's the box was handed over to the nurse's hands to be distributed as needed. Next stop was the Peds Floor. The Nurse came out to get the bag and couldn't believe what I had. She couldn't wait to get back in to look at them. So we left her at the door thanking us immensely for the present. She gave us a great thank you and off we went. The feeling was great. Can't wait to do the next delivery. I went to the fabric store today and got more fabric, and most of it is sewn and packed for the next delivery.

Update
A friend of mine passed on a little info for me. A friends baby needed to go to the NICU for monitoring. One of the wonderful nurses brought her in a dress, bonnet and blanket for the baby. Guess where they came from? Yes, mine that I donated. I am so proud!
I also called one of the NICU's and they need more supplies. They also have a Peds floor that requested hats. All are ready for tomorrows delivery! So that makes 310 blankets and 136 hats that I have donated. Trying to get to 1000. That is my goal! How about you?

Looking for another hospital!
So far I have supplied three hospitals with hats and blankets. I have a bag of hats ready for the Pediatric Unit next. In the mean time I do continue working on all articles that I donate. I bought more yarn. I thought I might run out of it. Bob says I will never run out of yarn. He thinks I have it hidden in every corner and under every bed. He is partially right! Just don't tell him. I just love making these little hats and gowns! Must make some new patterns.....

Posting
I was going to post a new pattern the other day. I don't write the pattern down as I am doing it. I just write it when I am done with the project. The new pattern was sent with the hats I sent to CHOPS NICU in Philly. So stay tuned, I will make another design and post it. Yes, I will keep it away from the packing box!

Delivery # 3
This delivery will have to go through the Postal Service. No GYN is needed. Just a box and some tape. Address label is also necessary. The box is stuffed and ready to go. It has Preemie blankets, cuddle sacs and matching hats, demise gowns and matching hats, and hats, lots of hats. By the time I filled the box, my container of crocheted things was just about empty. This delivery is going to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Pa. My next job is to go into mass production again!
New hat tomorrow!

Hat
Here is a picture of the latest hats I have made. I add buttons and different things. There is a button in the center of the flower to set it off. The curley cue hat is the rose colored one in the right corner. It is easy to do. The yarns now a days must be seen and felt to see if they are 4 ply, 3 ply or sport, or baby yarn. They now use # 1, 2, 3, 4. I like the 2 & 3, for all my projects but some are listed as # (sport) and they are really 4 (worsted). Not complaining because I will use it anyway!

Curly cues
I was experimenting with different embellishments on the hats and did curly cues on the top. I chained 20 and attached the chain to the top of the hat, then chained 20 more. I put 3 sc in each ch on both ends of the chain. It curled by its self. If you don't want a curl you can unravel it to give it a different design. Make at least 4 of these for the top of the hat. Will post a pix.

Update!
I continue to add to the stash of gowns and hats for the preemies on a daily basis. I found some cute buttons that I have added to some of the hats. They really look different. I keep trying different colors also. Then I will call the NICU's to see if they need more and I have another in my sites!
