Hat pattern

Here is a new hat pattern.  It started with the white one and ended up with the floppy brim.  It is that easy to add on to a pattern.

Baby pompador yarn by Red Heart.  Size G Crochet Hook.

Row 1:  Ch 4 and join. Ch 3, counts as 1 dc, 11 dc in circle.  Join in top of ch 3. I have learned to work over the tail and you can pull the tail and make open circle smaller.

Row 2: Ch 3, 1 dc in same space, 2 dc in each st around, join in top of ch 3.  24 dc.

Row 3:  Ch 3, 1 dc in same st, *1 dc in next st, 2 dc in next st*, repeat around.  36 dc.

Row 4:  Ch 3, 1 dc in same st, ch 1, 2 dc in same space.  *Skip 2 spaces, 2 dc ch1, 2 dc in next st*  Repeat around, Join.  12 shells.

Row 5 to 8:  Ch 1, sl st to ch 1 space, ch 3, dc, ch 1, 2 dc in same space.  *In next ch 1 sp, 2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc around.  Join.

Row 9:  Ch 1, sc in each st around, use contrasting color if wanted.

If continuing for brim:

Row 1 for brim:  Ch 3, 1 dc in same space, *1 dc in next sp, 2 dc in next sp* around. Join.

Row 2:  Ch 3, 1 dc in same space. *1 dc in next 2 sp, 2 dc in next* around. Join.  Trim with 1 sc in each st around.

This is really a simple hat to work up.  Add a flower to the top or side.  Isn't this fun.

Have a good one....Nan
